Could a time be coming when journalists are rewarded based on their traffic or other online measures of attention?
Yes.
I’d be amazed if we don’t see this spreading across the industry soon.

what a horrifying idea – payment on popularity rather than merit. Where does this leave specialist interests or well, if you boil it down to its distasteful essence – anything that isn’t about beer ‘n’ birds?
Looking at the newspaper model – taking The Sun as being most popular, ie having the most traffic – is that really the model that you’d want your reading material to take?!
