Darling …you are ranting again!

Antony: You’ve broken the code to discover temporary and artificial nirvana via noise abatement headphones. Good show!
I was able to properly install the batteries in mine but have yet to be able to figure out where to add the gin? And I’m certainly not going to seek help from any of the surly cabin crew! :-) -
These have transformed my work environment – I can actually DO work at my desk with the head phones on rather than having to lock myself away in a meeting room or stay at home (the irony of not being able to produce work at a place that they call work…)

Got a pair myself today – I hadn’t realised noise-reducing headphones had become affordable all of a sudden.
My report – very good *on* the tube and the train. I’m anxious about exposing fellow passengers to my tinny tum-ti-tum from regular headphones, so hopefully this will let me turn the volume down low enough to avoid it. Rubbish while at the stations and on the street because the microphone turns a breeze into a howl.
