Kevin Anderson hired for Guardian blog R&D role

Kevin Anderson, the BBC online producer who writes the excellent Strange Attractor blog with Suw Charman, is joining the Guardian as head of blogging and interaction.

Good news for Mr Anderson and proof that the Guardian is committed to pushing forward its social media efforts.

He gives us a taster of the job description:

…a role model for the new, participative form of journalism emerging from the best blogs. The role won’t just be about encouraging more journalists and commentators to blog. It should also be about experimenting with different forms of community interaction, spotting opportunities to launch new blogs and develop existing ones, and helping us form a strategy.

It’s good to see the Guardian not resting on its new media laurels but investing in serious thinking and R&D about what might come next.
