Balance at last in the “saints vs. spinners” debate?

  1. I hate it when hacks are rude to flacks. And this divide is getting pretty bad in the US. PR professionals should be partners with journalists in reporting truthful and honest stories. Those are always the most compelling. Spin doesn’t work and it’s all about the journalist’s spin, anyway. That’s why I want the pr industry to give me a deconstructed press release, tag different sections (company founded date, first quarter revenues, analyst quotes.) These are factual things–leave the angle (spin) up to me… And, put some links in the news release!!!!! The media world has moved on but the press release hasn’t changed in 40 years.

  2. I’ve tried some – sometimes embarrassing – innovations with press releases in the past, but linked’n’tagged releases would be a good idea. I’ll get on it.
