According to rumour reported in the Media Diary section of the Observer Business & Media section today, a dislike for podcasts (and presumably blogs, Wikis and all things Web 2.0) could mean a P45 for some Daily Telegraph staff.
I can’t see it online otherwise I would give you a link, so here’s it verbatim:
Hack those Luddites
Another round of job cuts is looming at the Telegraph. The paper’s move from Canary Wharf to Victoria will be the catalyst for the removal of those uncooperative hacks who have been slow to embrace the brave new media world, according to a well-informed source. Translation: anyone who thinks podcasting is a bad idea will be out on their ears.
Jon Snow predicted last week that social media and citizen journalism
would see off some of the less talented / capable of his collegaues
(see Jon Snow: citizen journalism will see off unprofessional hacks). Could he have believed that new media would be the deciding factor behind axe-wielding at a national so soon?
