Google Map mashup for BBC’s commemoration of slavery abolition

The BBC’s Abolition Season, marking 200 years since the Abolition Slave Trade Act was passed, has has an interesting Google Map mashup as its centrepiece.

The map tells a concise story of the slave trade, with locations attached.

What would make it even more interesting is if people could submit geo-tagged information about the slave trade for inclusion in the map. It’s a little limited as it is – but I really like the format and the way that you can zoom right into the spot where a given event happened.
