My take on the Google News discussion (is having too much on it diluting its usefulness) as reported by Press Gazette’s Fleet Street 2.0 blog.
If Google’s mission is to index the world’s information it has to take into account as many news sources as possible. Rather than getting sniffy about who gets to be on the list, Google engineers should – and most likely are – working on ways to let you customise your news feeds to your interests as closely as possible.
More not less content is desirable, but with ever more sophisticated filters, be they computer (Google News), human (your own edited reading list of blogs and news sites) or hybrid (Techmeme and other memetrackers)…
