Typepad’s two-tier service

Stuart Bruce is peeved by the Typepad policy that means that if you have an account with them in Europe you don’t get all the features you do on the US service, such as the useful Feedburner service.

I don’t blame him. It is a bit irritating – I don’t understand why there should be a two-tier US and "Rest of World" service.

If I can keep my blog unaltered I’m going to transfer over to the US service. I guess the only difference (apart from getting more for your money)  is the currency you’re billed in, and that’s not too hard to deal with.

  1. It is rather silly when American firms do this—and I have no idea why. Typepad is not alone. Very often I’ll register using our US office address and phone number, just to get the more comprehensive service.
